Samba - Portuguese translations #2

21st December, 2007 | Last modified on December 21, 2007

There are quite some obstacles that have to be overcome when translating / localizing themes or files in general to another language. For instance, not all alphabets are the same and encoded in the same way: the Brazilians have all those ~ above and underneath their letters:Ç for instance has to be translated to the html equivalent of ascii code

& #199; or the easier to remember & Ccedil;

- it is the Latin capital letter C with cedilla who wouldn’t have guessed?!

Anyhow, with work for my mini-company at university stashing up I had little time so far - next exam is coming up at 11th January, so I will kick-start the translations with full-speed. While translating all my themes from English to Portuguese (Brazilian) I will fix numerous bugs and take out some items that people have complained about.

For instance, with the Dragee theme, I have added the “pages” tab- now pages are displayed on all sites (no idea why I did not do that earlier) - also the icons are grouped in one instance and carry one link now only.

Look at the below thumbnails and click them for some additional information.

Oh, also just realized when putting in the Tags for this post that I could add tag support maybe for all my themes!
