6th Theme for 06-07-2007

allow some seconds for this page to load, many images attached

I wanted to incorporate a sign into today’s theme, but found myself ending up in creating a CITYSCAPE.
So there is no sign in sight in this theme, but I am sure you will love the urban timeless look of today’s theme. There are two cityscapes to choose from, each is a Photoshop collage of high-quality stock images by
justin koenig and kristin smith. I got both artists’ permission to use their work.

KaiToU you are right, some areas are very hard to read, but from a designer’s point of view you always have to trade-off usability and innovative stylish design.

I hope I have found a good ‘mean’ with this theme. you are always welcome to submit modifications. you can (if you want to increase the usability) change parts of the css to show an increased contrast or improve the visibility of the text by increasing the background’s png’s opacity (left.png / right.png).

hi jez, thanks for the compliment, although from a look at your portfolio, you’re miles ahead! Still playing with the design, did it all last night. Your theme was definitely a great starting point though. Take a look back in a week or so, and some of the little bugs and problems should be gone. Good luck with all your stuff! >Ben

Ben, you are doing great, I like the orange colour and the background, it looks even more artistic than the two backgrounds I have come up with! I will check back regularly to catch up on your progress!
thanks for your comment

hey there, as the themeviewer is still closed to updates I plan to release an updated version as soon as I get the chance to upload it to themeviewer.wordpress.net – else spending time (which currently is quite limited on my end) does not make sense. sorry for the inconvenience.

can you tell me what is “not compatible” at the moment?

I think it’s only the tags block that is at the end of every post, by the way, can I change anything of the theme? that CC license is confusing, it says I cant change anyting, but you wrote that I can…

thanks teft for your reply,
can you send me a screenshot maybe, too? that would be the bomb!
as for the license, feel free to change whatever you like as long as you credit the original author.
the n.d. part was basically just added to scare off any commercial selling buggers.

yours,
jez

Hello,
could you tell me how enable this theme to release more than one post on the main page ?
When I change the specs in admin, it doesn’t work but it works when I use another themes, so it comes from this theme only.
Thanks a lot

@kimoo: sure thing, thanks for stopping by and asking. in order to show more than one post per page (front page) you need to change the query post part in the upper loop (query) to not say “1″ but e.g. 2 or 3 – this may help you even further: http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/query_posts , actually it is very easy, once you changed the query parameter in the php file (should be index.php, very top part), you are good to go. let me know if you run into any trouble.

this theme is wonderful
many compliments
anyway..how can I set the in the left sidebar the same background (kind of transparent white) and font color (black) of the central post column?.
I guess I must edit some value in the php file of the left sidebar..but I have no idea about which file and which parameters to change.
could you help me?..I’d appreciate it a lot
greetings from italy, great designer :-D

@galock: hey galock, thanks for the kudos, much appreciated! for the changes: just play around in the css file, if you swap the values you should be fine. it is basically like a game of memory. find the right value, note it,find the field where to paste (exchange it) and voilá. Hint: font is probably something with ‘color’ , the background issue is probably something with ‘background’ ; maybe background-image.

due to university load I am sorry to be not much of more help; when I have more time towards the end of the month I will gladly help you out if you till then have not figured it out yourself. good luck!
